It was a beautiful day for anything, especially a triathlon. The sun was out, the wind was blowing, and everything was green in Pleasanton, Ca. Quite a few people came to the event that was a non-sanctioned race, and the non-competitiveness made it a nice, fun atmosphere. I am scheduled to do the same race next month but I think I may do a different one; either in Oregon or Tahoe. Both races are Olympic distances so this race season will have come full circle in terms of race length. Hope you like the pictures.
What an awesome race! This, by far, has been the most overwhelmingly attended competition that I've participated in yet. It was pretty neat to think how such a big event with so much attendance was being held out on the far side of a small California reservoir. If you didn't know exactly how to get there you'd be lost. Anyway, the swim was very long, the bike was fast and curvy, and the run wasn't too difficult. I'd give myself an A- performance wise because my swimming wasn't the most efficient. Other than that I did fine. Thanks to my mom and Rowyn who patiently supported me throughout the race; I owe her for the pictures and the ride up there. Now a couple weeks to train in the heat for the next one.
This was a very arduous triathlon. Besides the long swim, the elevation change throughout the course made it hard to pace yourself. It sure was pretty and the biking was fun. I think I made it in somewhere around 1:48. Thinking back on it I'm surprised I did as well as I did. I'll be prepared for next week in Morgan Hill. Here I come!
The second longest triathlon to date: 750yd swim, 18mi bike, 3.5mi run. This one had an especially fun atmosphere being held at Davis and being a collegiate race. Also it was a cool way to end my spring break of looking at colleges. In the race I did strongly on the swim and bike and decent on the run. When all was done I crossed the finish line in 1hr 45min. Now I have a month to rest and train. (Thanks again Ity, Shasha, and Syrah for providing us with a nice place to stay. We had a great time)
